Contest website with geolocalization and social media connectivity features.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of modern Viennese tap water supply, five art installations were chosen for display in Viennese public space.

The event was accompanied by a competition, where registered users could search for the artworks, take photos, upload them to the contest’s website and specify the place where they found the piece, using Google maps.

My task was to create a logo for the contest, to develop the screen design for the website and do the frontend coding, also including extended alternative ways for users to register – using existing social media account logins.

My design is centered around the abstract and artificially looking water key visual element – symbolizing the event’s focus on sculptural art in public space.

This work is all about digital abstraction of memories, landscapes and ambience.

Featuring images made since 2006 from various selected source photographies, horiçon incorporates a simple digital transformation technique – resulting in a densation and reduction of information and thus creating abstract horizons.

This project is an approach to my interest in traditional topics in art history such as landscape painting and still lifes.

Each horiçon tableau can also be read as a digital sketch – their actual content of information is rather limited. These images are rather meant as digital source codes for the reproduction of certain recorded amiences and memories in various media – from c-prints to large format wall painting to LED light objects – still to be made.

For the project I also made a website to document and present it – optimized for search engines and standards compliant.

Project tasks

artistic concept

creation of digital horiçon tableaux from selected source images

design and coding of a project micro site

Design relaunch of echonet's portfolio & corporate website

Vienna-based new media agency echonet communication gmbh is specialized in designing and developing accessible websites.

That’s why the relaunch of the company’s corporate and portfolio website needed to be an outstanding example of a clearly structured, well designed, easy to use and accessible web solution.

As a designer at echonet, my task was to contribute to the concept and create the screen design for the relaunch.

My concept’s central element is a minimalistic and elegant design grid, that serves as a kind of “white cube” – putting reference projects and company profile into the focus while reflecting echonet’s corporate design.

Project realized for/with echonet communication gmbh.

Fullscale redesign and relaunch of the website for the Viennese Akzent theatre.

My central design approach was to incorporate a reduced graphical version of the theatre’s safety curtain by artists Helmut und Johanna Kandl (the theatre’s new trademark) as the visual core element of the website – serving as a metaphor for the role of layers, illusion and reality – crucial in the very concept of theatre.

Also, my web design is based on simplicity, clearness and elegance, building a bridge to the theatre’s new corporate design while creating a unique and independent look and feel to meet the medium’s demands.

I also accounted for the technical front end realization of this project – focused on optimization for search engines as well as accessible markup.

Design of a business report website for BAWAG-P.S.K. bank group.

With regards to the company’s Corporate Identity guidelines, I developed a screen design focused on clearness, objectivity and accessibility of information, als well as an overall friendly and modern look.

A main challenge with this project was to ensure optimal display and accessibility of large quantites of information and table data.

Also, since all published data were required to be optimized for search engines and accessible for all audiences, certain technical frameworks had to kept in mind while designing the site.

Design and Frontend-Coding of a portal website for skiing vacations.

“Ab zum Schnee” is a project of the viennese echo medienhaus company featuring skiing events and vacations.
Among the products offered are all-inclusive travel packages to various cooperating skiing resorts in Austria. The packages are branded with regard to the incorporated means of transportation to the skiing resort (flight, train, bus, rental car).

A central demand while developing the web design was to ensure an independent presentation for each of the product lines, while at the same time to create a link to the main brand “Ab zum Schnee”.

Furthermore the “Ab zum Schnee” corporate design with its illustrative look and feel needed to be turned into eye-catching and fun-to-look-at yet accessible and efficient to use web design.

I was also responsible for the technical frontend realization of this project – using standards compliant and accessible XHTML/CSS as well as Flash for animation tasks.

Design and development of a stand-alone, dynamic multimedia presentation tool for echo medienhaus gmbh.

The Vienna-based company echo medienhaus gmbh needed a tool for the presentation of corporate concepts and structures as well as for playback of video and image files at client meetings. Of course, the software had to incorporate the company’s corporate design.

As for the main technical demand, easy means of updating and replacing the image and video contents by simple drag’n'drop actions of new files to the local filesystem were crucial.

The core visual and tactile element is a “planet system” – with its own physics-engine for interactive animation – representing the company branches and enabeling navigation within the presentation software.

Design of a website for a fundraising cooperation between WWF and Amnesty International.

The fundraising cooperation between the NGOs WWF and Amnesty International needed a new website and demanded a layout, both independent from any corporate design characteristics yet finding a visual balance between the two organization’s logos and the images depicting their fields of action.

The sky image I chose for the website header serves as a purely neutral design element while at the same time it stands for the extensive and unifying background of the two NGOs – for their joint forces and efforts to make the world a better place.
